SAC Train Sculpture Project

The SAC Train Sculpture Project began with a vision presented by the school’s Interact Club: to create a lasting representation of the school’s mascot as a gift from the Graduating Class of 2026. I was entrusted with transforming that idea into a completed sculpture and managing the project from initial concept through final installation.

The first stage involved developing the design and determining the sculpture’s appropriate size, proportions, appearance and placement on the school campus. Once the concept was approved, the digital train was made ready for fabrication.

Production then moved into the fabrication stage. Each component was printed individually, inspected and prepared for assembly. The sections were carefully aligned, bonded and clamped together to form the full locomotive structure. Internal reinforcement and structural supports were incorporated where necessary to ensure the sculpture would remain stable and durable.

After assembly, the seams and surface imperfections were filled, sanded and refined. Multiple rounds of surface preparation were completed, while maintaining the fine print lines to add texture and create a professionally fabricated finish. The sculpture was then primed, painted in the selected colours and sealed with a protective coating suitable for its intended environment.

The final stage included preparing the installation area, transporting the completed sculpture to the school and securely mounting it in its designated location. The finished train now stands as a symbol of school pride, teamwork and legacy—a permanent contribution from the Graduating Class of 2026 for future generations of SAC students to enjoy.
